Empowering Your Mission with Financial Expertise

Nonprofit Audits

SEK provides independent financial statement audits for nonprofit organizations of all sizes—from small community-based organizations to large regional nonprofits with complex programs and multiple funding sources. Our auditors are experienced with ASC 958 (nonprofit accounting standards) and apply those standards to produce clear, accurate financial statements. For nonprofits that receive significant federal funding, a Single Audit is required under the Uniform Guidance. SEK's Single Audit team ensures compliance with federal program requirements and helps organizations address and resolve findings.

Form 990 Preparation

The Form 990 is one of the most important documents a nonprofit produces—it's publicly available and serves as a critical tool for demonstrating accountability to donors and the public. Our team prepares accurate, complete 990s and helps organizations understand and communicate their financial story effectively.

Unrelated Business Income

We help nonprofits identify activities that may generate unrelated business income (UBI), determine the resulting unrelated business taxable income (UBTI), and develop strategies to manage potential tax exposure while protecting the organization’s tax-exempt status.

Governance

Strong internal controls and governance practices are essential for maintaining donor trust and protecting the organization from fraud and mismanagement. SEK helps nonprofit boards understand their financial oversight responsibilities and strengthens control environments.

Delivering an array of services tailored to the specific needs of nonprofit organizations, we assist our clients in achieving their strategic objectives:
