Just a few months ago, our world shifted overnight with seemingly no warning. Non-essential businesses were suddenly forced to function in a solely virtual environment – ready or not. The businesses that had already begun to do things digitally got a running start, but it isn’t too late to get on board. There are opportunities to ensure you stay connected with your clients and to shift your business’s traditional marketing efforts to digital, because experts agree that the virtual switch is likely here to stay.

Gauge how your clients prefer to interact

You traded in that two-hour client meeting at the office for a 30-minute Zoom catch-up, and the work still got done correctly and on time. Your clients’ time is valuable, and they may not wish to go back to face-to-face meetings right now – or maybe ever! Helping them put time back in their day is valuable in its own regard. Continue to check in on them during and post-pandemic – ask how they are doing personally, ask them about their company, and offer advice when you have it. It’s also key to know what is important to them – sharing articles and information that pertain to their interests and goals will provide value and show that you care. Be flexible and aware as all parties adjust to the changes.

Boost your online presence

Your company has invested time and money to prepare for trade shows, sponsored events, seminars, and networking mixers that have now been canceled. The opportunity to network with clients and prospects is an even larger loss than the money already spent. Many of these events are going virtual this year, and some businesses are using this as a “trial run” to perhaps change the way events are held forever. You will need to get creative to translate your message in a way that reaches your audience. Some opportunities include:

  • Relevant website content/blog posts
  • Enhanced social media engagement
  • Webcasts (pre-recorded) or webinars (live and interactive) on relevant topics
