Michael Manspeaker, CPA, CGMA, Consultant/Former Member at SEK, CPAs & Advisors, has been appointed to the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The ASB is the AICPA's senior committee for auditing, attestation, and quality control.

Appointed in May 2024, Mike will serve three one-year terms. The ASB is made up of 19 members who are nominated by the AICPA Audit and Attest Standards Staff Director and then approved by the AICPA Board of Directors. The members represent various industries and sectors, including public accountants and private, educational, and governmental entities. The ASB issues statements, interpretations, and guidelines that certified public accountants (CPAs) must adhere to when performing audits and attestations.

Mike provides Assurance & Advisory services to SEK’s clients and consults on technical matters related to professional standards. With a tenure dating back to 1986, he became a Member of the Firm in 1990 and transitioned into his consulting role in 2022. He served as the firm’s Director of Audit, Accounting, and Quality Control for 18 years. Mike has served as Member and Chair of various distinguished committees within the AICPA, Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, and Allinial Global over the past 25 years. His engagement has led to meaningful contributions to the wider accounting community.  

Active in his community, Mike currently serves as Board Member and President/Treasurer of Haven Lutheran Church and Board Member and High School Key Club Advisor of Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown.
