Recent News & Blog / After IRS Problems, Taxpayers Get an Extra Day to File
June 13, 2019
Following computer system issues that appeared early yesterday morning, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that taxpayers will have an additional day to file and pay their taxes. The new deadline is today, April 18, at midnight. The extension is automatic, so no extra steps are necessary to receive the extra time.
Some taxpayers were still able to file and pay their taxes online despite the issue, but since millions of taxpayers were expected to file at the last minute, the IRS has extended the deadline out of caution and has apologized for the inconvenience.
If you need more than one extra day, you still have time to file an extension.
